you know the old saying of "it's all in your head",i love that saying because it is very confusing when you examine it,
René Descartes said "Cogito ergo sum" = "i think therefor i am",in my view this is backwards,i think it should be "i am therefor i think",my reason is this, you perceive reality through your senses and this information is then sent to your brain where all of these electrical signals are put together for you (the observer/the one aware that you exist) to experience, this means that you cannot be certain that this information is correct and for that matter you can also assume that you may not even have senses, this all means that reality is a type of realistic dream and that means that all of what you experience is within you,you are the mind, you are the awareness and you are part of the consciousness/the all/the everything/the one being/the unified field,as you can see there are many names for one thing, you can decide which suits you best....
you are the mind and all that you experience exists only within the minds eye, meaning reality including the proverbial head is in you,you are the one who can be aware of your thoughts as they occur, you can observe them through meditation and notice how they happen in much the same way as you breath,it is an automatic event which can be controlled if you so choose, with that i say again "i am,therefor i think"
on a side note:from everything i have researched - there seems to be a problem in locating consciousness,i have read about a brain surgeons account of having to completely shut down a patients brain in order to operate - yet after the operation the patient described things that happened during the procedure that he could not possibly have known due to being officially brain dead, more is that i have also come to understand that nowhere in the brain can they find a seat for consciousness, this is something i recommend you Google as i find it very interesting and so too might you...
interesting short video on this..
